Sisco. 218 ATHLETICS Girls' Bowling Team Has Impressive First Season 'Morton's first year in girls' sports competi- tion was a success. The girls' bowling team com- peted in a neighboring conference and finished high in the standings. The team consisted of ten girls divided into an A and B team who both earned five wins and one loss. The girls won in the district and advanced to state competition in Peoria. There they placed seventh out of two hundred schools. The enthusiasm shown at the announcement of girls, volleyball did not dwin- dle even though the team finished a disappoin- ting season in sixth place. They did have two outstanding players in Mary Kordesh and Judy DeVito. Although the team record was poor, the first year of girls, tennis also had some high points. Pat Giannis and Cathy Chaberski dis- played great winning ability at first and second singles spots in the line-up. In order to get an effective spin on her serve, Cheryl White irightl concentrates on her follow through as she watches the ball leave her racquet head.

Four wins and three losses placed the team fourth in conference play. Scott Stanley and Jim Hora were the Des Plaines Valley League Conference second doubles cham- pions. Three outstanding sophomore players, John Dismang, Jon Abrams, and Bill Bilun con- tributed to the varsity efforts. Coach C. Prazak hoped the rebuilding of lost talent from the 1972-73 championship squad would be com- pleted by the end of the 1975 season. He used his frosh-soph team, which had a poor finish last spring placing low in conference standings with two wins and five losses, as a developing team for the upcoming seasons. Following through with his swing, John Dismang Qleftj concentrates on the ball as he directs his service toward the opposite court at a home tennis match. One of the varsity team's veteran first doubles players, Mike Kolb tabovel, returns a serve back to the opposite court with a strong forehand drive. ATHLETICS 217
