Golfers Change Season From Spring to Autumn Both the varsity and frosh-soph golf teams encountered difficulty in a new golf season which changed our teams' meets from the spring to the early fall. The varsity coached by Mr. D. L. Verdeyen, finished the season with one win and eight losses and placed seventh in the league. They also finished eleventh in the dis- trict meet. The outstanding player on the team was Tim Wesbey, who shot a 79 for the season's best game, took sixth place in the conference meet, and also had the team's best average. Finishing better than the varsity, the sophomores ended the season in fifth place with six wins and eleven losses. Dan Sawusch had the best average of the sophomores. Berndt's Shooting Wins League's Scoring Crown Varsity basketball made a good showing by ending the season in fourth place with eight wins and six losses. Their main attraction was Bill Berndt, who won the DPVL scoring cham- pionship when he outscored his nearest com- petitor by thirty-three points. Berndt, who lead the team with most points per game, got forty- four in Morton's last home game. He, of course, made the all-conference team. An outstanding junior was Valdis Bole, who won an honorable mention from the all-conference team. The junior varsity had an upsetting year with one win and thirteen losses to end in eighth place.
