Cross-Country Runners Finish Well at Oak Park Placing third in district competition, the varsity cross-country team finished a good year. The team's hard work paid off in a winning record of six wins and two losses. A highlight of the year was the Oak Park Invitational in which the team placed fifth out of twenty-five teams. Outstanding varsity runners were junior Bob Conner and senior Frank Donnelly. Finishing with two wins and six losses, the sophomores did not do as well as the varsity. When he was asked what they could have done to improve, Coach G. W. Busse replied, Win more. The freshmen finished a fine season with five wins and one loss to show their great potential for future appear- ances on the upperclass teams. At a cross-country meet, Dave Proffitt fabove, leftl con- centrates on keeping pace to prepare for his final drive. As Kevin Kempf ileftj runs through a scenic area during a frosh-soph meet, he gains on the opponent ahead. ATHLETICS 201
