Soccer Teams Complete First Year Competition Morton Westis first varsity soccer team Was on a trial basis this year and was not in the Des Plaines Valley League. The team finished the season with a record of eight wins and six losses. The valuable players included Stan Mansik, a good scorer, and co-captains of the soccer men Jerry Enright and Valdis Bole. f Disappointed with the lack of fans, the sophomore soccermen still played a very good year. They finished the season with a record of ten wins, five losses, and one tie. Their outstand- ing player, Joe Svec, was one of the top scorers at his level in the state. Frosh-Soph Coach R. E. Undefeated First Place For Freshman 'B' Team Morton s first sophomore football team in two years had a very unfortunate season. They finished with one win and four losses in con- ference play which placed them fifth in the Des Plaines Valley League. The sophomores kept up a high spirit and a hard working attitude all year in spite of the poor record. West's two freshman football teams finished on opposite ends of the standings. 'A' team completed conference play with one win and six losses to finish eighth in the district. 'B' team finished first in the Des Plaines Valley League with six wins, no losses, and one tie. A strong defense which gave up only three touchdowns was the tearn's backbone. ATHLETICS 197
