Medical Department Contributes To Well-Being of Each Student A new member of the Morton West medical staff this year was Dr. ,lames Rybacek, the school dentist. His duties included checking the students' teeth and recommending necessary dental care. Two registered nurses were on duty each day to administer aid to minor illnesses and injuries. The nurses instructed home nursing classes in the senior girls' physical education program. They were also present at many of the school's extra-curricular activities in order to provide medical attention when needed. Dr. T. I. Jasin- ski took care of the more serious injuries during the school day and gave physical examinations to all freshman and junior students as well as those participating in school sports. Cafeteria Staff Provides Daily Meals for Students and Faculty The cafeteria staff prepared nutritionally well-balanced meals for Morton West students every day of the school year. They provided hot lunches in the two student cafe- terias and the teachers, cafeteria, as Well as offering many a la carte items. The staff was divided down into teams of nutritionists, stock clerks, and, of course, cooks. In ad- dition to providing food during the four lunch periods, these teams also prepared the cuisine for many of the numerous dinners given in the Morton West cafeteria by community and school organizations. For the International Banquet, the staff prepared dishes in the manner of the seven nationalities represented by the language clubs. Secretaries Complement Faculty In Offices Throughout School The efficient functioning of any school requires a well- trained staff of secretaries, and Morton West is fortunate to have just that. The women in the main office have many duties including helping the principal and assistant princi- pal, keeping student records, and answering the switch- board. Those in the registration office are in charge of registering students for both semesters and recording grades. Other secretaries in the main office assist the deans in keeping attendance records and helping students. School Services Greatly Benefit Students and Faculty of Morton Contributing to the efficiency of Morton West, the men in the school services provided the basic materials necessary for each student. Mr. J. Kawczinski, popularly known as Hack, ran the supply store which provided writing materi- als and supplementary articles required for courses. Mr. E. Savickas was in charge of the textbook library which supplied each student with the necessary books. Mr. G. Rohlicek headed the maintenance staff which cared for the grounds and the facilities of the building. Mr. A. Ochsner was responsible for the receiving room through which most supplies entered and were distributed. Not pictured is Mr. F. Petrdil, who served as ticket manager for Morton. Maintenance Staff Readies West For School, Community Activity Keeping a building the size of Morton West in proper functioning order is a difficult task indeed. However, the maintenance staff was able to meet this challenge and to do so well. The staff was responsible for maintaining the classrooms, halls, and offices in a clean condition, con- ducive to an educational atmosphere. They were also re- sponsible for the care of washrooms, locker-rooms, and the various athletic areas. ln addition to the many require- ments of the regular school day, the maintenance staff prepared all the school facilities necessary for eXtra-cur- ricular activities whether they involved student groups or organizations of the community.
