For five straight years, Morton West has taken this titleg but this year, for the first time, Morton Won the district champion- ship as well. The overall season record was sixteen wins and five losses while the conference record was ten wins and three losses. Named to the all-conference team for their fine per- formances Were shortstop, Dom Piagnarellig third base- man, Skip Haakg left fielder, Fred Goeringg and pitcher, Bob Kadlecek. In league competition Alexa batted 326, Piagnarelli, .4505 Haak, .2833 and Goering, 349. Bob Kadlecek had a 4-1 record with a 1.84 earned run average. Second baseman Chuck Zynda batted .325 and right fielder Jim Cray batted 391. Coach Pace's team batted a solid 300. The pitching staff was more than adequate as Rich Hode hurled lVIorton's first no-hitter and Bob Kadlecek pitched a one-hitter. Since four of the five Falcon choices for the all-conference team were juniors, Coach Pace will have a solid nucleus on which to build next year's team.
