Varsity Matmen Perform Well In Des Plaines Valley League The 1968 Morton Varsity Wrestling Team, guided by Coach JI W. Polz, compiled a record of which they can be justly pround. They boasted a conference record of four wins and three losses in comparison to last year,s varsity squadls endeavor which registered only one victory in seven con- ference matches. This yearls team finished fourth in the Des Plaines Valley League, and its overall record of six wins and five losses was one of the best showings for Morton grapplers. Cited as exceptional members of the varsity squad were Joe Podraza at 1445 poundsg ,loe Vicchiollo, 127 poundsg ,lerry Brewer, 165 poundsg Rich Waszak, 154 poundsg and Terry Brewer, 180 pounds. 1Vl.W. Biro. Valley Record ls Even as .lV's End Season in Fourth Position This year's ,lunior Varsity wrestling team should form a olid nucleus for next year's varsity team. It was a strong .nd determined team that earned a good overall season record of eight wins and five losses. In the Des Plaines Valley Conference, the ,l.V.,s placed fourth with three wins and three losses. According to the team's coach, D. W. Matheny, some of the more outstanding boys were Frank Smith, Dave Hogan, Bud Most, George Peternell, Jay Sehestl, and Dan Drake.
