BOT- FRESHMAN AND SOPHOMORE BASKETBALL Win- ning eight of their twelve conference games, Mr. T. Kulp's sophomore basketball team had a spirited and exciting 1968 season. The team ended up in third place in the Des Plaines Valley Conference. The team's leading scorer was forward, Neil Christensen, who was moved up to play on the junior varsity team. Smalarz. player of the year to be Thomas Keefe. The freshman basketball team had a disappointing season in 1968. The Falcons had five wins and seven losses. They won over West Leyden with a score of 42, to 243 Addison Trails, 64 to 353 West Leyden, 50 to 4-53 and Hinsdale South, 37 to 32. Delayed Success for .lay-Vees. Sophs, Frosh Gain Experience fUN1OR-VARSITY BASKETBALL Coach R. 1. Hahn's junior varsity basketball team had a dismal start in their season, but finished by winning four out of the last five games. With an overall record of six wins and eleven losses and a conference record of six wins and eight losses, the J.V.7s placed fourth in the Des Plaines Valley League. Their last game against Downers Grove South clinched Morton's final standing. Oustanding-players such as Bill McClure, who scored 192 points for the team and had the highest percentage of free throws with a .712 average, sparked the team, The team's leading scorer and most improved player was Bob Giantasio who made a total of 194 points with 122 rebounds. Joe Vicchiollo, a junior at 127 pounds wrestling on the varsity level, brings his opponent'.s arms forward in order to reverse him. Varsity Matmen Perform Well In Des Plaines Valley League The 1968 Morton Varsity Wrestling Team, guided by Coach JI W. Polz, compiled a record of which they can be justly pround. They boasted a conference record of four wins and three losses in comparison to last year,s varsity squadls endeavor which registered only one victory in seven con- ference matches. This yearls team finished fourth in the Des Plaines Valley League, and its overall record of six wins and five losses was one of the best showings for Morton grapplers.
