To gain the interest of all students planning to enter a career in some phase of medicine, the Future Nurses this past year became the Medical Careers Club. The members invited guest speakers to their regular meetings and also viewed several educational films. For their Christmas project, members of the club made hookmarkers and favors to send to a nursing home. FUTURE TEACHERS OF AMERICA The outstanding accomplishment of lVIorton7s Future Teachers this past year was to become affiliated with the national organization, the Future Teachers, Clubs oi America. ln club work members worked on a point system. They earned points by grading papers and aiding teachers in other aspects. Another of the club's main activities was serving as guides for the open house held in November. 's 1 COMPUTER CLUB Under the direction of Mr. D. H. Lome, the Computer Club began its first year. During their weekly meetings the members learned to program a computer and studied various computer languages and other aspects of data processing. ln addition to their work at school, a number of the members also attended computer science classes at the Illinois lnstitute of Technology. ln order to in- crease their knowledge of the practical aspects of computing, club members took several field trips to large companies such as the IBM Corporation, the Minneapolis Honeywell Corp- oration, and the Remington Rand Univac Division. Homecoming was the first important activity for the Distributive Educa- tion Club as the members worked diligently on their car en- try. At Christmas they visited the downtown Chicago stores to evaluate the different types of advertising techniques. During January, the entire club attended an annual leader- ship conference, and six members represented West at the state leadership conference in Peoria. Regular meetings held weekly during O-hour and supervised by Mr. F. R. Mascari featured several guest speakers and panel discussions. High- lighting the end of the year was a banquet sponsored by the members for their employers. ...mwqw . ,4

-Q r A f-...NNN-W HOME ECONOMICS CLUB Under the direction of Mrs. S. L. Grenveld, the Home Economics Club had a busy year with more than fifty members actively participating. The girls used their homemaking skills for both personal enjoyment and charitable purposes. First semester activities included a September car wash, a Halloween party at an old TOP ROW: D. Slezak, C. Roth, B. Grych, L. Miglinj FRIENDSHIP CLUB Friendship Club, which met twice a month, stressed informal adult communication among its members. At several meetings, guest speakers spoke on various job opportunities. Other regular meetings featured taped music, creative skits, and typical ubusinessw meet- ings. The club sponsored an animal cracker sale in Novem- ber which was followed by an exciting Christmas Party. A splash party and an Easter party were included on the agenda for spring activities. The club's main project of the year took place at Christmas when members sent cards, letters, and packages to servicemen in Viet Nam.
