AAAA GIRLS, CHOIR . . . Memhers of this choir, one of the largest choral groups at West, enjoyed participating in the presenta- tion of the Christmas and spring choral concerts. The only prerequisite for one joining the Girls' Choir was her having had at least one year of singing experience. For this yearls Christmas presentation, the choir performed Tchaikovskyls NUTCRACKER SUITE, which was adapted for voices and which featured a hallet clancer. The Girls, Choir presented music from several musical periods for the spring concert. Open to the entire student body, the Mixed Chorus was the second largest singing group in the school. All incoming freshman students interested in becom- ing members of Mortonis choral program were placed in this chorus. Limited auditions were held early in fall with the only requirement being that the student could sing on pitch. Elementary note-reading was taught in class by the director, Mr. F. W. Smalley. The group participated with the advanced choral groups in the Christmas and spring con- certs.
