Student Body Chooses Queen And Her Court of Six Seniors Early last October, West's students selected the home- coming queen and her court. Seniors limited an original list of about twenty girls nominated by several school organizations to seven. From these seven, the student body then chose the one girl they felt should reign as Morton West's 1967 Homecoming Queen. On Friday, October 6, Mary Ellen Habada, the 1966 queen, returned to crown ,leani Chin at the traditional homecoming pep assembly. Jeani was nominated by Junior-Senior Girls and escorted to the dance by Larry Schuck. As a senior she was an active member of Junior-Senior Girls, Booster Club, and the Evaluation and American Field Service Committees. She also presided as corresponding secretary for the MWSC and as recording secretary for the Berwyn Junior Auxil- iary. The other six girls who composed the queen's court were--Diane Bachta, Janie Bishop, Pam Gilbertsen, Candy Kaleta, Kathy Kraus, and Sandy Kriz. The homecoming queen's court was composed of Diane Bachta and Pam Cilbertsen fupper, Ieftlg Janie Bishop and Sandy Kriz flower, Ieftig and Kathy Kraus and Candy Kaleta Kbelowl. Friday's Pep Rally Paves Way For Homecoming Day Activities Although a drizzle of rain marred the climatic aspect of Mortonis 1067 Homecoming, the spirit of the occasion was not dimmed. During the pep rally on Friday, students learned cheers that were presented hy the cheerleaders, watched the Pom-Pom Girls perform two dances, greeted the memhers of the footlmall and lravlv teams who were introduced hy their coaches, and viewed the crowning of ,leani Chin as the 1967 Homecoming Queen. Continuing the homecoming spirit that was generated luv the vearlv pep rally, the students came to school on Saturday, Octoher 7, 1967, prepared to enjoy themselves throughout the parade, game, and dance. This yearis theme, NCalifornia Dreamin',7' was carried out in floats and cars entered for judging hy various cluhs and organizations active in school. Judged on aspects such as originality, theme, and construction, Thespi- an's entry 'iEverything's Comin' Up Rosesv won first place in the float division, and French Clulfs car 'Tishin' For A Victoryli won top prize in the car division. The large crowd assembled in Hoffman Stadium to urge the Falcons to vic- tory over their opponent Addison Trails by a score of 13 to 0. An evening at the dance entitled When You Wish Upon A Star, over which the queen and her court of six seniors reigned, was the frosting on the cakei' for a most memorable homecoming day for 1Vest students.
