In order to provide Morton with an interesting and accurate pictorial history of the school year 1967-68. the TALON staff worked long hours in planning pages, writ- ing copy, and taking pictures for this year's edition. Under the supervision of Mr. R. C. Hegner, the staff labored diligently to achieve the five functions of a yearbook: to serve as a memory book for students, to give a complete his- tory of the school year, to serve as an accurate reference book. to increase the journalism experience of the staff, and to give an insight to the surrounding community. Besides striving for these achievements, the TALON staff set a still higher goal of receiving the All-American title, an award given by the National Scholastic Press Association. ln striving for this goal, staff members attended confer- ences and workshops and studied previous yearbooks to learn techniques in designing and writing which could be applied to this yearls book. Witli the basic patterns in mind, the students tried new ideas to put on record the unique features of the 1967-63 school year at Morton.
