n ornfzing anal Ci!-onorin ur fur uri The purpose of the Bulletin Committee is to inform students of the various school activities. It handles the third floor and outside bulletin boards. Beside handling these, it regulates all notices on black boards and doors. Helping main- tain the school's clean neat appearance is the job of the School Improvement Committee. lt works for the general welfare of the school. The Bulletin and School Improvements Committee help students become well informed on all school activities, giving them a reason to be proud of J.S.M. STANDING: D. Cech, S. Karel, U. Jasinski, J. The Welfare Committee works to help needy families or students in our school who are in need of some sort of aid. Money from the Welfare Fund is used to help students going to school. The Committee carries on such projects as the Talent Assemblies, the Clothing Drive, and the White Elephant Sale. It gives gifts to needy fam- ilies at Christmas time, visits the sick, sends out get-well cards, and takes field trips. The School Improvement Committee deals with the appear- ance and condition of the school. It handles the clean-up week within the school. The function of the Medal Awards Committee and the reason for which it was organized is to give recognition to graduating seniors who have excelled in special helds such as music, drama, and debate. These seniors receive their awards during a special assembly, Little Commencement. Most of these students belong to at least one club which is under the iurisdiction of the Club Com- mittee. This committee is responsible for issuing all club charters and passing new club constitu- tions. Honoring our active seniors, the Medal Awards and Club Com. mittees work closely together. This committee together with the M Boolc Committee helps MorTon's new- comers become better acquainted with J.S.M. Now that this code has been written, it is the duty oT the committee to see that the code is printed on the back ot our guide cards. The Public Rela- tions Committee is a co-ordinating committee that informs the student body and the com- munity about the activities ot the school gov- ernment and the school. lt is in charge ot a column in the Lite newspaper and tries to get interesting articles into Chicago newspapers. The Eligibility Committee is responsible tor checking the grades ot all candidates running tor an M.S.O.A. ottice to see that they are eligible. Working closely with this committee is the Election Committee. lt conducts all school elections pertaining to the M.S.G.A. and the Board and takes charge ot all campaigning and assemblies that are in relation to the elections. One ot their duties is to keep a record ol all the candidates and their positions. Dates tor assemblies and programs must be approved by the Assembly Committee. They must approve all skits and material that vvill be presented to the students through assemblies. These assemblies are intended for the enioy- ment and enlightenment of the student body. One assembly which vvas held in January dealt vvith the experiences ot a man who had lived in a Communist-occupied country. The Activity Committee is in charge ot all Homecoming activities except the dance. It organizes, plans, and directs all Homecoming activities for the school and the community including the parade, nomination and election ot queens, and its annual rah-rah sale. They vvork along vvith the Social Committee on the crovvning ot the queens. This committee puts on pep assemblies and other school activities assigned to it. Last year vve had one ot the largest Homecoming parades Morton has ever had. The vvhole Homecoming more than proved to be a success.
