fyumffesf This year saw the opening of the west branch of J. Sterling Morton High School. Students and teachers alike were unprepared for the graceful examples of modern architecture, from the curved hallway at the audi- torium to the glass enclosed plaza of the main entrance, which awaited them in the new building. In addition to being beautiful, however, the school houses all of the advanced ideas in education including a foreign language laboratory. Morton West students are informed and entertained by the many glass enclosed bulletin boards located throughout the school. Making a student project out of decorating the art room, An example of the beautiful architecture of the students show traditional initiative and ambition. west branch is found in this stairway. is! ii 2 Z li 2 z 5 Morton players, cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd, rose to the occasion and came out of the battle with a 7-7 tie. The most anticipated and prepared for event of the Tall is The Homecoming weekend. It begins on Friday afternoon with the assembly after school in The stadium and ends with The dance The next night during which The Frosh-Soph and Varsity queens are crowned. The parade Saturday morning is The much awaited product of many weeks of student labor, and The weekend is high- lighted by The game which is, after all, The core of the Big Weekend. www git 109759 Hours of labor go into the floats participating in the Home- coming parade which are completely hand made by students. The J.S.M. Dance Band entertains for the Homecoming Assembly held at the stadium. Page 23
