Board of Education There is a tremendous amount ot work connected with running a large school like Morton, and a large share ot it falls upon the board ot Education. These seven men, who work without pay, have spent a great deal of their spare time with the superintendent and school otlicials on such things as approving purchases, hiring teachers, and passing on the adoption ot new books tor classrooms in addition to determining the policies of the school. During the past year, however, one thing especially has been on the minds of the board members: namely the new school. They spent one year and three months planning this new branch with the help of Morton's faculty and also visited numerous other schools in order to get a better idea of iust what they wanted the branch school to be like. Several times meetings were called on Sundays or during business hours. However they all agree that it was well worth their efforts: tor when the new school opens in the tall of l958, it will be one of which the whole area can be proud.
