OTTO OPLATKA The citizens of the community elect from the school district seven men to serve on the Board of Education. These men give the students of the school the very best education that the funds entrusted to them by laxv and by the people of the district can procure, Une of their major functions is the handling of financial affairs which includes seeing that the budget is prepared and levies are made. They also pass upon purchases of supplies forthe school and recom- mendations for teachers and stall members. Through their time and effort the tax money is used to our advantage. The average student knows little about this group: nevertheless they are the ones who help guide our school to the high position it holds in the educational world. and xve sincerely appreciate their services. piult' N

One may not be surprised to see him at a school dance or cheerfully walking down the hall with a group of students headed for some activity, He also works with the superintendent preparing a budget for the district and a pro- gram of public relations, Another one of his responsibilities is promoting better relationships among the various departments. Dr. Walter Cooper has certainly Hlled his position as principal capably. Because of his friendly and cheerful manner. he is liked by everyone.
