ulaerinfenclenf MR. ALLEN R. MOORE The position of Superintendent of Morton is a difHcult one, and Mr. Moore is fulfilling it capably. As superintendent, he is responsible for the com- plete operation of the school: and it is his job to see that all school laws of the district and state are carried out. As executive ofHcer for the Board of Educa- tion, he works with the Board to supply the needs of Morton students: and in case of emergency he may make a change in rules subject to Board approval. Keeping the community informed about the school activities is another of his jobs, and he must make provisions for hearing and considering ideas about the school which come from the community. His work keeps him constantly on the job, but he is never too busy to counsel an individual student who needs help. His kindness has won for him the respect of all of Morton. Page 9

Secretary Mr. Iames Zourek Mr. George Prosch Mr. Otto Oplatka Mr. Charles Matt Mr. Otto Pecha, Ir. The primary function of the Board of Education is to give the students who attend the various schools under its direction the very best education that the funds entrusted to it by law and by the people of the district can procure. This responsible task includes the selection of our superintendent. They must also pass upon recommendations made by the superintendent for the hiring and dismissal of teachingand non-teaching personnel. They budget all money and must pass on recommendations for salary increases and approve all purchases made with tax money. Although this group of seven men is little known by the individual student, they are the ones who guide the daily instructional facilities for those who attend our complex educational system. They approve purchases of all of our equipment and also pass upon the use of our school facilities by outside organi- zations. All of us thank these men for devoting their time and efforts to us.
