DEDICATION In every rank, or great or small, 'Tls industry Supports us all —John Gay Over a million high school students enter industry each year for life work. Industry gives great laboratories and research centers which are constantly at work all over America seeking new and improved devices and processes that will benefit humanity. The wealth of our nation lies in in- dustry developed in our democratic system of free enterprise. It is only in a democracy that the fruits of industry can be justly divided among all those who have labored to produce them and those for whom they have been produced. May we, in whatever scope we serve, seek to continue the march of science and industry at the steady and rapid rate our predecessors have established. As Seniors coming to the close of our high school careers and to the threshold of the broader responsibilities of the future, it is our pleasure to dedicate the 1953 TAHISCO to MISS GRACE ARNOLD, a sincere and devoted leader, who has unselfishly and unsparingly given her time and effort to the cause of education. During her ten years of service at Tate she has enriched the life of our School Community through sponsoring many plays, the Annual Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom, and the Junior Class. She has inspired pupils to win awards in speech and writing. She has sincerely and conscientiously helped us to develop our individual personalities. She has received State-wide recognition as Secretary of the State Council of English Teachers. It is said that a teacher affects eternity; she can never tell where her influence stops. In dedicating this annual to Miss Arnold, it is our purpose to express our feeling of gratitude and appreciation for her in- fluence on our lives. What greater or better gift can we offer the republic than to teach and instruct our youth? —Cicero

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Our community is rapidly changing from an agricultural to an industrial area. Since most of us will spend the major portion of our lives here we must make corresponding changes, particularly in our educational processes. The greatest opportunities for us and our community lie in the direction of individual improvement, self discipline, and a determination to carry on a program of self education. Self-education as a perpetual process keeps alive the forces of the mind, gives us new knowledge, and expands our capaci ties to the extent that we are able to contribute worthily in a changing economy. R.C. LIPSCOMB
