This year ' s freshmen class is divided into six homeroom sections having a total of 215 students. Sponsoring the homerooms are Miss Sharon Bolling, Miss Ruth Carter, Mr. Thomas Countiss, Mrs. Darlis Daugherty, and Mr. Ronald Dowell. The students in this class choose, in addition to English, Science and Physical Education, such electives as French, Latin, General Business, World Geography, Algebra I, World History, and Home Economics I. Early in the fall homeroom officers were nominated; and after being screened by the faculty, were voted on by the students in each section of the ninth grade. The students pictured above were elected to represent the class on the Student Cooperative Association. 106 New courses stimulate freshmen interest Cathy Adams Mike Addington Tim Addington Karen Anderson Judy Asbury Sarah Asbury Larry Adkins Paula Adkins David Allio Donnie Askins Stephen Bates O. The J. J. Kelly graduates of 1974 made their debut this year as our incoming eighth graders. At first the complexities of high school life seemed overwhelming, but once accustomed to them, the new students became adjusted. If everything runs smoothly and no one drops out, this class will earn the distinction of being the largest graduating class ever at Kelly — with 245 students in 8 homerooms. For the first time at Kelly High, the entire class was grouped into two large En- glish classes with three instructors doing team teaching. A few of these students who had the highest grades moved ahead into freshmen courses. The eighth graders chose as their presidents the students pictured above.
