COLORFUL PAST IN A PLAY TAKEN FROM JOHN FOX’S NOVEL LITTLE SHEPHERD OF KINGDOM COME” A famous tale of mountain life of the people of Kentucky and Virginia, concerning Chad played by Doyle Roberts, the orphan mountain boy, who came to live with the prominent Southern family, Major Buford, played by Terry Gibson, was the kindhearted Kentucky Colonel. His sister Lucy, played by Monette Roberson was the supercilious mistress of the household. Other members of the cast were: Mrs. Dean, a nosey neighbor played by Audra Miller; her daughter Margaret, a beautiful Kentucky gentlewoman played by Carolyn Smith; Thanky, the house maid played by Norma Fulcher; Tom, the faithful servant played by Jimmy Riggs; the crude mountaineer played by Gary Wright; Jenny Overstreet, the romantic poetess played by Billie Davis. Richard Hunt, the charming Kentuckian played by Joe Smiddy. Betsy and Melissy, the girls from the hills played by Norma Dale and Thomasine Collier. Nellie Hunt, Richard ' s sister, played by Judy Baker. The play was directed by Mr. Farmer and was presented in our auditorium December 9th and 10th to large audiences. 27
