As I, the great Youdi, peer intently into the glittering crystal ball, faint shapes begin to appear and slowly, but with steadily incr- easing speed, the faces and figures of the class of ' 47 begin to mate- rialize. And lo J as I look closer I see a trim street lined with white bungalows. It seems as if a few of the class of 47 are leading happy married lives. Among them are Betty and Earl B., Shirley and Vernoy, and Agatha and Pedro. The scene shifts: A capable career woman (Nancy Tate) is addres- sing a large crowd on the subject of Business Administration. There seems to have been an engineer’s convention, and we know 3 of the del- egates: Bobby Gene, Brent, and Bruce. The crystal dims, then brightens and I see a poor professor, Wil- lard Haney, being besieged by a group of housewives who want better grades for their offspring. It seems that Sonia and Roy are on the faculty and that they give everybody D on deportment. Dorothy Hawkins is head of the attacking army, and is ably assisted by Edna, Dorothy Beverly, Wilma, Leeota and Bobby Lee. The lights flicker and then brighten and I see a large establish- ment with the name Elite Clothes for the Elite . A crowd of customers are entering and you can be sure that those secretaries, Eleanor, Mabel, Joyce and Mildred will always know what to wear and when to wear it if they take Jeanette ' s advice. Again the scene changes, and I see Claude Large sending a telegram to Kenneth Profitt, a prominent chemist and Ben Spradlin, a forestry expert. And we all know the telegraph operator; it ' s Jean Dean. As we peep over Claude ' s shoulder we read: Come at once, potato bugs are ta- king over the farm. What can I do until you get here? Once more the lights flicker and dim and I see a hospital room. We know two of the patients, Earl D. and Lester, and I wonder, if they try to hold Mary Jo ' s hand even when they ' re asleep? I always heard that nursing was an interesting profession, Mary Jo. When I look at the crystal again I see two giant liners leaving port. Waving good-bye are Jean and Rose, each heading in different di- rections--© for England, the other for China. But we ' re sure they ' ll meet again someday a3 will all the class of ' 47. The crystal is comp- letly blank and so we say So-Long, Wise Hi J
