Club-40 CLASS HISTORY HOY well I recall that September morning in 1930, when a group of boys and girls went skipping off to school for the first time. My i how proud they were, but today they are still prouder. Eight from that group are to graduate in June. They are: Lena Dotson, Ann Elam, Merle Greene, Lena Rasnick, Billy Miller, Gloria Vicars, Woodrow Palin, and Robert Lipps. During their senior year, Ann Elam has served as President of the Hi-Y Club and Robert Lipps as President of the Beta Club. PROM the Hurricane we have had a number of students to join us Those who have remained with us are: Leola Preeman, Anna K. Jackson, Jewel Jessee, Verna Scott, Nina Bevins, Charles W. Hopkins, Lloyd Collier, and Wolford Powers. Wolford has held the offices of President of the Monogram Club, Senior class, and Student Council. Ray Hopkins claims the distinction of being valedictorian of our class as well as one of Wise High f s outstanding athletes, having made first tean in both football and basketball. He is also Vice-President of the Beta Club. Leola Preeman who has made an outstanding record in Wise High School is Secretary of the Beta Club, Mgr. Editor of the Arro w Editor of the Arrowhead and is Salutatorian of our class. Ssserville also supplied our class with a number of students. Richard Wells, an outstanding football player, has helped our Athletic Club to keep its fame. Mildred Collins and Letha Bolling, both active members of our class, have contributed to our entertainment. FROM Glamorgan came Clella Rogers, Jeanette and Ralph Lawson who have helped to better our class. Ralph has been a first team football player for two years. Blanche Hubbard and Ross Mullins were welcomed to our class from Gilliam School. Ross is an outstanding football player having made first team. Wythe Robinson and Geneva Laney from Mt. View have also played an important part in our class. Nadine Fraley joined us in the ninth grade, coming from East Stone. Ernestine Nuckles and Jane Beverley with the help of summer school are members of our class, although they started a year after the majority of the class. Harold Spradlin from Whitesburg, Ky., Betty Stuart coming from Mississippi and Noah Taylor from Castlewood, Va., have become members of our senior class. ANN ELAM, SENIOR CLASS HISTORIAN PROPHECY Norwi.30, Va. June 17, 1955 Verna Scott and her husband entertained at their home on 8th. Street Saturday evening, with a party for her graduating class of 1942. The guests included: Lena Mae Dotson-Married to a Lieutenant in the army. Teeny Nuckles and Mildred Collins--Still old maids. They have gotten to that childish age now. Richard Wells and Leoia Freeman — Richard is an Aviator for the Eastern Air Line3 and Leoia is Air Hostess on his plane. (Isn’t It nice that they are together.) Harold. Spradlin— Aviator for Transcontinental and married to his high school sweetheart. Ross Reed Mullins--He is a gentleman now. Ho ah Taylor and Woodrow Palin— Noah Is the perfect lover , and Woodrow got him a gal. Jane Beverley and Ann El am-- Gray- headed and wearing glasses. Yes, they’re still teaching school. Lena Rasnick, Nina Bevins, Blanche Hubbard, Anna K. Jackson, Jeanette Lawson, Jewel Jessee, Letha Bolling, and Clella A. Rogers—Tliey are stenographers In law offices and for several different firms. Wythe Robinson— Civil Engineer. Robert Lipps— Electrical Engineer. Gloria Vicars— Married with four of her five children present. (Pretty good start toward that football team.) Billy Miller, Lloyd Collier, and Charles Hopkins — They ' re married and are ideal husbands, of course. Nadine Fraley-Married Neale Slemp years ago. Ray Hopkins, Wolford Powers, and Ralph Lawson could not come because of active duty. Ray is a Flying Cadet, Wolford is in the Air Corps, and Ralph is an officer In the marines.
