Webb Wildcats had a very successful football season, settling for a third place tie with Roxboro. The 'Cats were in the battle for the loop crown up to the final game, when they bowed to Roxboro, 23-7. While compiling their 6-11 record, the Wildcats had a 5-O home slate, bringing their two-year home record to 8-I-I, second best in the District. Being led by co-captains Marty Yancey and David Cannady, the Wildcats beat Wakelon C26-IQJ, co-champion Chapel Hill C8-75, Orange 125-73, Southern U3-OD, Jordon C40-71, and Henderson C25-71, while losing only to co-champion Northern IQO-295, Dunn C7-l3I, Henderson C7-l9I, and Roxboro. Four Wildcats were placed on the All District lll team. Tony Oakes and Bill Willis were named to SCORES WAKELON I2 HENDERSON I9 WEBB 7 DUNN I3 WEBB 8 CHAPEL HILL 7 WEBB I3 SOUTHERN O WEBB 25 ORANGE 7 WEBB 20 NORTHERN 29 WEBB 25 HENDERSON 7 WEBB 110 JORDON 7 WEBB 7 ROXBORO 23 the second team, while Robert Corbitt and David Cannady were placed on the first team. Cannady also got All-East and All-State honors while be- coming the first player in District history to capture the scoring crown and the player of the year award for two years in a row. Other lettermen on the team were Bobby Frazier and Donald Warren at end, Ben Barker at tackle. Earl Rose and .lim Byars at guard, Danny Williford at center, Kenny Cox' at halfback, and Charles Barker at the fullback slot. With five returning lettermen, including Jay Perkinson who spent the '64 season on the sidelines with an iniured shoulder, Coach Parham is hoping for another successful season. MR. JOHN RARHAM B.S.
