LATIN II Webb's Latin Club numbers l37 members this year. Club meetings are held during regular class periods once a month. The Latin CIub's motto is Cognoscamus , meaning AiALet Us Learn. These highlights shine out every year: the Latin banquet in April, the annual .l.C.L. convention in Chapel I-lill in March, and the national J.C.L. con- vention every August, which as many as are able lscholastically and tinanciallyl may attend. J.C.L. national will convene at the University ot Southern California this year. On the state level, Webb's Latin Club has been very active, Betsy Suit was '64-'65 vice president ot the North Carolina J.C.L. At the '65 convention in Chapel I-Iill, the Webb Romans were in charge ot the devotional and also furnished the entertainment. Betsy presented the '65 TORCH to the delegates. Everyone agreed that she did a superior iob. LATIN ll OFFICERS LEFT TO RIGHT, SEATED: Lorena Timberlake, Vice Pregi- dent, Louise Dunkley, President, Joan Smith, Vice President. V Y .Q 9.5: we A mg-S' B In f wa ' - EPILOGUE A sunset the stroke ofa clock The last note of a beautiful song- These signify an end. Yet, they possess a quiet beauty all their own I bid farewell to you-to a part of my life- To a time I shall never again know. Yet I now pause for lust a moment to look back. The nights we beat Henderson the crowds in the lunchroom The scramble for bus tickets the roar of the crowd at the games The dashes through the rain the sleepy eyes on Monday morning The late hours during exams the quiet or noise of my study hall The research in the library the iams between classes The smile of a friend the face ofa clock the sound ofa bell Elections and the dragging hours the disappoint- ment the ioy The first issues of our Spectator the pep rallies I snow and days of freedom Q A favorite teacher a iob well done ...an obligation well met pride- The good and the bad intermingle. And suddenly I realize- Together we have made memories. Even though I have waited long for this dayp Still-I cannot leave without a small twinge- . a thought- Perhaps without having these memories fill my mind. For I may never know more ioyous days- Though I once wished them over so quickly- without a thought. Yes, now I bid you farewellg Yet perhaps someday I shall be able to see' It was never farewell at all- It was only thank-you. vm Q1-vu We're Through! lr E HOW DO YOU SPELL CAREER OPPORTUNITY?
