Geneseo Township High School TI-IE SENIOR PRGPI-IECY On the evening of january 22, 1962, Mark Gannon, the star reporter for the New York Times, was hurrying along at a mere 500 miles an hour toward his home town of Geneseo, Illinois, where he was to get an exclusive story on what was to be considered the perfect televisioni' machine. The inventor of this super-human machine was an old schoolmate of his, Clarence Worden. After the two had met and talked a little while about their good old high school days, Clarence suggested that they test the machine by tuning in on some of the members of that fine class of 37 . Thus the fun began, for once the machine was turned on, it did not rest until every member of the class was found. Now I will tell you what they learned on that extremely exciting evening. First they saw Bob Whited, Hitting about in his usual manner, in a night club in Florida. He is a comedian now, and he owes a great deal of his success to his manager, William Snedeker. Next, in Washington, D. C., they saw Dorothy I-Iolmstrom, who is now Secretary of Labor, and Edward Vfyffles, who after 25 years, is the only remaining member of the Supreme Court. They also learned that the President of the United States, Raymond Ristau, has just appointed his new cabinet member-the Secretary of Love -Russell Erdman, who has chosen Mabel Kemmis as his private secretary. After that, they came to Rock Island, the city of women executives. There they saw Genevieve johnson, the Mayor, and Marcella Warnecutt, the Chief of Police- women. And while in Moline, just a few short blocks away, they saw David Busen- bark, Robert Strohman, Lester Peterson, and Wfallace Wiedenhoeft who have, after making their fortunes, enrolled in a school for bachelors there. VVhen in South Dakota, they spied Marvin Wfyffles and his wife, the fonner Margaret Clifton, living happily on their ranch in the great out-of-doors. Then suddenly they found themselves in Africa, where they saw Marjorie Plapp, Eunice Ernst, and Florence Myers, the trio of missionaries, teaching the natives to knit. Skipping back to New York, they saw Ruby Benoodt, who is successfully operat- ing a world-famous school of beauty culture. They also saw Evelyn Offerle, the successor to Irving Berlin, in her drawing room working on a ditty. Ar the University of Illinois, the class was well represented, for Ena McKenney is the instructor of Poetry. Abram Farnum is the professor of the largest class of ball room dancing in the world, while Jean Lager is an instructor in Physical Education. In Cieneseo, Gail Teeters and Goldie Felske have established a home for orphaned Chinese children, and Irene Clementz, the aviatrix, is planning to give all of the children a ride in her new plane. Millie Elling, the famous lady chemist, together with Evelyn Bartz, Leola Erdman, and Ruth Chapman, has just completed a success- ful experiment which will result in the manufacture of fruit-flavored pancakes. Miss Opal Utter and Lenola Hamilton have had some interesting debates on the subject: To marry for beauty, or to marry for money . Della Lippens and her assistant, fContinued on page 265 v inli-
