The girls went wild as they cased the array of swinging eligible bachelors for the junior class-sponsored Sadie Hawkins dance. One could see the reflection of men in their eyes as Saturday night drew near and last minute plans were made. Finally, the day came, and with it, the dance . . . and what a dance it was! Marriages per- formed in Dog Patch Chapel came complete with rings, licenses and a personal snapshot, The fabulous Shannon band played overtime and the entire night was hosted by the well-known cartoon characters, Lil' Abner and gang! Wild! To add a colorful touch, overalls and flannel shirts were the common attire with corncob pipes and red bandanas. All these things made for a real ho-down! Says who? Lil' Abner, of course!

Raiders' Ral and Bonfire Boost Spirit In an attempt to unearth some super Stuart spirit for the Falls Church football game, various clubs presented hilarious skits. While the guys snick- ered at those daffy Hi-Y cheerleaders, the girls swooned over the infamous Lettermen. The Drill Team carted away first place, with the Lettermen and Hi-Y placing 2nd and 3rd, respectively. The excitement held through Friday night even though the game ended in a tie. MISS IEB STUART CONTEST Girls, judges and entertainment could only mean one thing . . . that the Miss j.E.B. Stuart Contest, sponsored by the Business Club, was here once again. Sixty-four girls competed for the crown. While the judges were deciding, entertainment was provided by the individual singers and by the Home Ec. Department's fashion show. Finally, after a hard day's night, the long-awaited announcement arrived: Frances Wright, 3rd runner-up, Julie Basham, 2nd runner-up, Leigh Fitchett, lst runner-up, and the new queen, sophomore Leslie McPeak.
