Homecoming 1973 Dora and escorts . . . Scott Burton and Tim Cook - 178 2 E .E 85 63' We lost . . . In fact, we simply bombed the first Homecoming Contest ever, in fifteen years of football history. In a disappointing game, we suc- cumbed to the Robinson Rams for the second time in a row, by a score of 21 - 6. Yet all was not lost. The team may have been defeated, but the Homecoming spirit soared during the tradi- tional halftime parade. The crowd was awed by the array of floatsand the beautiful queen and her court. The empty classrooms on that otherwise routine October Friday were the first hint of the enthusias- tic participation in the building of club and class floats. Who could forget those hectic last minutes leading to the 4:30 deadline when the entries had to be at school. Well, all those back-breaking hours paid off. They produced a group of fantasti- cally creative floats under this year's theme: Car- toon Characters. These student creations boosted the already high spirits to their limit as they con- fronted the homeside stands Friday night. Even in the midst of a heart-breaking defeat, this Homecoming enthusiam carried through to the S.C.A.-Sponsored dance Saturday night where everyone moved to the beat of Musique, Yes, Homecoming started out a loser, but ended up a winner.
