Underclassmen thought Guidance was a mad machine which produced in triplicate unbelieveable schedules and drastically low grades Cthat's not my real gradeg the machine did itll. For seniors, guidance was that vital link between the present and the futureg between Stuart and colleges or jobs. Since this year, when English was taught to fifteen students who were predominantly Spanish speaking, although other languages were represented. Volunteers from the AP English class worked individually with the students everyday during 4B. The object of the class was to enable the foreign students to understand English well enough to participate fully in the classroom and the community. To the rest of us for whom English is not a foreign language fdiflicult, but not alienj, the English department had much to offer. As department head, Mr. Nalls introduced several new methods of teaching and learning English. The new concepts included modular scheduling and a new writing curriculum for every level of study.
