Geoaot IMD AD AMH AMS AE AZ AK AS no matter how you read these letters they always spell the same thing AIMD IWO JIMA s Aircraft lntermediate Maintenance Department pro vldes support for the embarked Marine squadron and for all avlatnon support equipment on board The AIMD team of 50 sailors and 40 Marines works closely together to repair and inspect defective aircraft parts and tnsures that the helicopter alrwlng ls flying safely and efficiently AIMD ls broken down Into four separate divlslons and a number of different workcenters: Production Control, Quality Assurance, Support Equipment, Avionics, Power Plants, Air Frames, Hydraulics, Paraloft, Aviation Ordinance, and Gator. Each workcenter plays a different role ln the overall maintenance program -from the AK's who order the parts to the AD's who work on the englnesg the AS's who handle the support equipment and the AT's working ln avionics -- and the other five job classifications that make up AlMD. But according to Lieutenant Commander Charles Georgi, Maintenance Officer, teamwork ls the key to AlMD's success during the deployment.
