Commander Strohofer, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, was raised in Cliffside Park, New Jersey, and is now a resident of Pensacola, 1970 d Florida Commander Strohofer became an Aviation Officer Candidate after graduating from Xavier University in , an was commissioned in October 1970. Commander Strohofer was designated a Naval Aviator in November 1971. Commander Strohofer's first tour of duty was as a Search and Rescue Pilot at Naval Air Facility, Sigonella, Sicily, ltaly. His next duty was with Helicopter Combat Support Squadron SIX, Norfolk, Virginia, as a Verticle Replenishment Pilot from June 1974 to July 1977. During this tour, he made deployments to the North Atlantic and Mediterranean on USS SANTA BARBARA lAE 28l and USS MILWAUKEE QAOR 21. From there he was assigned for his first tour with Helicopter Combat Support Squadron SIXTEEN, as a Flight Instructor. In August 1980, Commander Strohofer attended the Naval War College, after which, in August 1981, he reported to USS TRIPOLI ILPH 10l in San Diego, California as Assistant Air Boss and Safety Officer. On board TRIPOLI, he deployed to the Westem Pacific and was designated an Officer of the Deck. ln January 1983, Commander Strohofer transferred to Helicopter Combat Support Squadron ELEVEN for his Department Head tour, and deployed to the Indian Ocean as Officer in Charge of the Vertical Replenishment Detachment aboard USS CAMDEN QAOE 21. Selected for command, Commander Strohofer left San Diego and returned to Pensacola and Helicopter Combat Support Squadron SIXTEEN. ln April 1988, he reported to USS INCHON CLPH 121 as Operations Officer where he was selected as Executive Officer. After attending Senior Officer Ships Material Readiness Course, he reported as XO to USS IWO JIMA KLPH 2l in February 1990. Commander Strohofer has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration fAccountingl from Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio and is a graduate of the Naval War College and Naval Staff College, Newport, Rhode Island. Commander Strohofer's decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Com- mendation with one star, and the National Defense Service Medal. He also wears the Sea Service Ribbon with two stars and the Battle E Ribbon. Commander Strohofer is married to the former Patricia Musselman of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The Strohofer's and their three children, Clifford, Andrew, and Vanessa live in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

He entere e a y g Ad I i t ti e Command in San Diego, Califomia, his request was approved for an A school quota and direct conversion to Storekeeper in m n s ra v May 1968. Upon graduation, he reported to the USS PERSISTANT QMSO 491l in June 1968. He participated in two Western Pacific deployments, numerous fleet exercises and was awarded his first Navy Achievement medal. Transferring ashore in early 1971, Master Chief MacDonald was assigned to the Submarine School Staff in Groton, Connecticut and subsequently assigned overseas to the Naval Communications Detachment in Sigonella, Sicily. ln September 1976 Master Chief was assigned d C to Presidential Support Duty first on the Presidential Yacht Sequoia and later at the White House Staff Mess under Presidents Ford an arter. Ch f M D nald was assigned as the LCPO of the Supply Department aboard the USS Returning to sea in October 1979, Master ie ac o FARRAGUT IDDG 371. During that tour, he participated in two Mediterranean deployments.
