CHAMBER ORCHESTR The Ranum High Chamber Orchestra is a performing group made up of violin, viola, cello and string bass players. The ensemble presents several concerts each year and attends state contest. The Orchestra plays primarily classical works, and some pop music. Members of the orchestra are encouraged to audition for all-State Orchestra. This year, five students were accepted to this Honor Orchestra. They are Cathy Lucatuorto, julie Dotson, Kristal Seder, jeff Fletcher, and janet Savage. Students are also encouraged to perform at Solo and Ensemble Contest. CONCERT BAN The Ranum Concert Band rehearses from November to May, and performs a number of formal concerts at Ranum High. They also play concerts in the local area upon invita- tion. The Concert Band per- forms a wide variety of concert literature for Band. In the Spring they also attend the State Band Contest. The Band officers for 1980-81 were, Concertmaster - Brett Bradley, Asst. Concertmaster - Cash Kraemer, Secretary- Roxanne Zajgari, Treasurer - jeff Wood, Drum Majors were Drew Wil- son and Leonard Gorman. In addition to these concerts, they also attend local area contests. The band, made up of members from the other two band groups, plays all styles of popular music. During the Fall of 1980, the Ranum Raider Marching Band performed at all of the home football games, as well as in local area parades. ln the Spring of 1981, they traveled to Canon City to perform at the Music and Blossom festival held there. In addition, they marched in other parades, such as the Ranum Homecoming Parade, Parade of Lights in Denver, Holiday Parade in Englewood, and St. Patrick's Day Parade in Denver.

DECA Marketing and Distributive Education is a class which teaches marketing and business skills. Distributive Education Clubs of America - known as DECA - is the club designed specifically for the M.D.E. student. The club is located at the Career Enrichment Park, and is sponsored by Mr. Peterson and Mr. Serra. Students in the class partake in many activities, including the running of the DECA store at the CEP. Organization for Secondary and College age Students engaged in the study of trades or industrial education. Each trade area is represented by a VICA club regulated by a constitution that is national in scope. Preparing for leadership in the world of work is the purpose of VICA and this is made possible by the study and practice of leadership and skill curricular materials. VICA students compete at local, district, state and national levels in both skill and leadership contest. The Career Enrichment Park has eleven programs that are eligible to organize VICA clubs. These clubs belong to the Skyline District Association and the members are eligible to become district and state officers. The Skill Olympics are held at Community College of Denver North Campus at the district level, El Paso Community College at the state level and at Atlanta, Georgia, for the national level. 164-CLUBS
