Nmws CH MWRCHESTRA yr Ranum is proud to have seven members of our Orchestra selected to represent us in the All-State Orchestra. They had to be auditioned separately and were judged on scales, solos and sight reading. These talented musicians are shown aboveg left to right, front row: Kristin Mowery, Debbie Simpson, Kathy Seavy, Ellen Jarmello. second row: Leonard Stegman, Nina Pickens and Martha Miller. The Ranum chamber orchestra comprised of violins, violas, 2 cellos, and one string bass performing a repertoire of mainly classical literature. They give a number of in-school concerts throughout the year in addition to the regular Fall and Spring formal concerts, Participation in full department production is also a function for the ensemble. Each Spring the orchestra travels to compete in the State contest, held annually at Arvada High School.

GIRLS ENSE BLE, M DRIGALS and SHUWSTOPPERS. The ACappella Choir is made up of 80 fine musicians. They sing classic arrangements by such composers as Mozart and Beethoven. They rehearse everyday during fourth hour and perform at an average of four formal concerts a year. The choir sold license plates this year as a fund raising project for their spring tour. Dr. Antonio Brico led them in a very nice concert combined with the RHS orchestra and Westy's concert choir as well. This was done on February 28. This year two members made the All-State Choir. The choir is to be commended for their spirit and fine vocal talents. an Ji The 15 members., who make up the Madrigal group are the more advanced performers in the ACappella Choir. Their pieces are composed of discordant harmonic chords blended together to produce beauti- ful melodies. This group rehearses C lunch, proceeding choir's rehearsal. This is their first year of establishment and they should be commended for doing such a fine job, Tiki The members of Showstoppers are 24 individuals who are in the ACappella Choir. Their talents enable them to lift their voices more than normal in a usual choir group. They perform at different school events, for the elderly and community organizations as well. They are a fine performing group and add a twist at the choir performances.

THE RANUM STAGE BAN MQ, Ranum High School has one of the best Stage Bands in the schools' history. They play what would be termed Jazz-Rock music. The band has put on many concerts throughout the district and hopes to make an in state trip to compete with other schools Stage Bands. it my no S iw 'r ' f ,m.....,,:, -A
