We hope that as you look upon these pages, you might also realize the work, exper- ience, and play we have witnessed. The doorways on the proceeding pages are to picture our entrance, activities, athletic experience, and finally to signify that when our school days are over, we leave through the doors to a world of reality and opportunity. i E Wfe the class of 1949 wish to thank you for the help you have given us in our four years of high school. For we appreciate the time you have spent in giving us the much needed instruction and direction that has benefited each of us. We are truly grateful, Mr, Mick, for the pa- tience and understanding you have shown. On November 6, 1948, Ithaca's Cross Country Team journeyed to the State Cross Country meet at Ypsilanti, Michigan, to compete against other class C and D teams in the state for the championship. The boys came through with the first place trophy, after traveling the two mile course in a downpour of rain. The harriers edged out the favored Napoleon team by 4 points. All teams have six men running, but only the first five place. Tom Turnbull set a state record for the new college course. His time was 11 minutes, 15 seconds. This is the first state record Ithaca has ever taken. 55 NAMES PLACE Tom Turnbull lst Duane Humm 6th Danny Robins 7th Dick Parling 16th Duane Vernon 38th 68 points Ray Ringle 56th 1 if THIRD HOUR GYM CLASS H .1 ,ju R..
