Floyd H. McKibben, A. B., M. -A. SUPERINTENDENT Bill was a pretty good boy. His father and mother had agreed about that and reflecting on their own early lives had decided that Bill must receive a good education. Bill shouldn't slave and work long hours as they had done. An education would make it possible for Bill, to be sure, not only of a job, but also of an easy job. So off to school he went with these ideas firmly embedded. In due time Bill grad- uated from College, eager for the easy job which would be awaiting him. But something happened-the economic world said No. Bill was disappointed. He became bitter. His views and philosophy of life began to change, and Bill frowned upon an unfair world. In this state he became an advocate of doctrines dangerous and undermining to our American institutions. Bill was a failure because he had been misguided about the true aims of an education. To the Class of 1937: Here's hoping that you will continue your education with these thoughts in mind: 1, That it will give to you cultural training. 2. That it will fit you to live a full life. 3. That it will prepare you for a harder task. fl. That it will make you available for more work. 5. That it will fit you to believe in the society and the country that made you what you are.

AGRICULTURE Vocational Agriculture as offered in our school includes the fol- lowing subjects: Farm Shop and Biology for freshmeng Farm Crops for sophomoresg Animal Husbandry , Soil and Agricul- tural Economics for the juniors and seniors. The state and federal government pay about one-half of the expense of the department because they think the training is necessary for the coming generation of farmers. This branch of our system is primarily for those who are inter- ested in making a business of agriculture. It is not only for boys, as girls seem to be a very essential part of farm life. In fact, it is not uncommon for the wife to make as much of the family income as the farmer himself. The business of agriculture as mentioned above, 'is not limited to those who actually intend to farm. It also includes people planning to teach in rural communities, agricultural high schools, county agents, extension workers, county nurses, farm statis- ticians, soil surveyors, agricultural chemists, ice cream makers and hosts of other lines dependent upon farming. This department is not for the out of date person who thinks he will try all other lines first and then go back to the farm fand no doubt make a failure of that because he lacks trainingj. Vocational agriculture welcomes students who realize that this industry is our greatest business and as such offers unexcelled opportunity for those willing to grasp it. .-....... Foster Mitchell, B. S., M. S.
