The Senior Class of 1959 gratefully dedicates its ANNUAL to Mrs. Sylvia Fowler, assist- ant to the Senior Class Counselor. Any student-senior or underclassman-knows that when he enters the Guidance Office he is sure to receive a friendly welcome from Mrs. Fowler. For five years she has acted as manager of the outer office, supervising the work of as many as fifteen student helpers, and running interference for the busy members of the guidance staff. Her work is primarily secretarial, and in the course of one year she will type hundreds of college applications for graduating seniors, letters of recommendation, transcripts, forms and letters. Her special contribution to the morale of students of IHS, has been the encouragement she has given them over the years, the patience with which she has acted as a kind of in- formal counselor, hearing their troubles, taking a personal interest in their questions, and helping them find the bulletins and catalogues they need to make decisions regarding educational or vocational problems. If anyone deserves the heartfelt thanks of the Class of '59-and the appreciation of the entire student body it is Mrs. Fowler, and it is to her that we gratefully dedicate this issue of the Annual.
