Vtlhat is our life? Informative classes, active cluhs, thrilling football games. and dreamy dances-all of these merge to Weave the pattern of our life in Ithaca High. Vtfe of the l956 X1 lllllllll Staff have attempted to trace this pattern. The fundamental purpose of high school life is education. Most of our time at l.H.S. is spent in classrooms where facts and ideas are learned and applied. Outside the classroom, however, when we participate in extra-curricula r activities. we learn how to get along with others and gain experience in special interest helds such as sports and music. After four years of high school, the senior is prepared to graduate and continue his education or begin a career. The patterns which have heen formed during his stay in high school will guide him in the future. These same patterns will influence all that we do and thus determine the sort of men and women we become. t5l

5 I l . ' Dedication ,f We, the Class of 1956, dedicate our Annual to Kenneth W. Elmore, who, as our class adviser, has helped shape the pattern of our senior year. Mr. Elmorels advice and suggestions were always avail- able when needed, and because of them our active senior year was successful. We are grateful to him for the interest he showed in us as a class and as individuals. The time he gave to work with class officers and committees and also to help us prepare for the College Board Exams is appreciated. Those of us who had the privilege of being taught by Mr. Elmore will always remember his lively math classes and the talent he had for making this difficult subject clear. Another fond memory the class will carry with them is the sight of Mr. Elmore at Ithaca Highls sports events. His loyal support was an encouragement to team members and fans alike. May the dedication of this yearbook be an expression of our regard for Mr. Elmore. HJ
