Ithaca Highis newspaper kept busy completing six big issues per term with reports on school news and such events as the de- velopment of the proposed Youth Center over the Cen- tral Fire Station. Everyone waited tensely for the exclusive report on the results of the Miss LHS. contest held on the first of lVlarch with thirteen contestants to choose from. Rolls of laughter went through the classrooms as stu- dents read the April l7ool's issue. Exposure of a secret faculty-sponsored gambling ring and the fact that David Temeles was a Communist really shocked the student body because they had trusted the faculty and the school president. Alert students had suspected that some of the teachers were gamblers, but they were not sure which ones. The Tattler reported all the facts. Some of the interesting: sidelights in the Taltler were reports of alumni, exchange excerpts from other U31

As a result of student contributions, a television set was given to Mr. Bliss, who was ill at the time. The Junior Chest drives in the fall and spring were very successful, with some homeroonis Contributing as much as seventy dollars. Under the supervision of the Coun- eil and hnaneed by the P.T.A., slip covers were made for the Student Activities Oliiee by the lloinemaking Department. Couneil representatives also eondueted a clothing drive for the beneht of families in lthaea. Creeee, and polled the students for suggestions for a new high sehool. ln May ollieers for next year were eleeted. and an informal dance was held to celebrate their inaugura- tion.
