All-State This year lthaca High School was well represented by many of its talented music students at the fall festi- val of the New York State School Music Association, commonly known as All-State. Priscilla Beeson, Bruce Shapley, Stewart Wallace, and Kathleen Walls were honored by being chosen for the statewide music conference held at Albany in De- cember. Ten orchestra delegates to the All-State sectionals went to Canandaigua on November 18 and 19. They gave their concert at the Canandaigua High School un- der the direction of Irving Cheyette. Twenty-nine sectional band and choral delegates went to Whitesboro, New York, on December 9 and 10. The All-State band was directed by Elwin Freeman, while Clement Barton led the All-State chorus. Ralph Dayton was baritone soloist in a chorus number, HCod ls the Light of the Worldfi Pat Mahool sang an inci- dental solo in HCranberry Corners, U.S.A.7' E251 Stewart Wallace, Priscilla Beeson, Bruce Shapley, and Kay Walls look over their schedule for the All-State Conference.

Annual Staff Because of the ideas gained at the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Conference in New York City and the aid of three direct staff assistants, the Annual had an effective year. It all began with a successful subscription drive in October. Soon almost three hundred seniors had filled out their data sheets, which then were checked and typed before being sent to the printer. Page layouts were drawn up. and pictures of clubs. seniors, and fac- ulty were scheduled. 'llhe editorial staff received assign- ments for club write-ups. and the business staff solic- ited advertisements. At the beginning of lVlarcl1 the second subscription drive was held. After spring vacation proofreading and hnal preparation of the book was completed. The covers arrived. and Hnally the Annual was bound and ready for delivery. Editor ..... ....
