W sal mmi a-3. .. W--.. .▲A.£b , mu The Mirror Presented by the Joint Staffs of ITAWAMBA JUNIOR COLLEGE and ITAWAMBA COUNTY AGRICULTURAL HIGH SCHOOL Fulton, Mississippi Spring, 1959 -in Dedication Because of their unflagging interest in higher education and in the youth of our nation, and especially because of their active interest in Itawamba Junior College — evidenced in an adequate physical plant, in a well-rounded curriculum, in an efficient staff, and in a continually increasing student body, both in size and in quality — we, the staff, proudly dedicate this, the 1959 edition of the MIRROR, to the Board of Trustees of Itawamba Junior College. The Presidenfs Message Itawamba Junior College was organized in 1948. We have completed ten years of college work. Much progress has been made over this period of time. A greater part of this progress has been brought about by the fine spirit of cooperation of the Itawamba Junior College Board of Trustees. This group of fine gentlemen have given every effort toward making this institution one of the best in the state. They have been very diligent in attending all board meetings. They have always favored policies that caused the institu- tion to grow, both physically and academically. I have never worked with any group of people who were more sincere in fur- thering the progress of a great institution in the state of Mississippi. Continuation of this fine spirit of cooperation will enable this in- stitution to be of greater service to the people of this area in the future than it has in the past. Congratulations to the staff of the MIRROR of 1958-59 for this excellent publication. The fond memories of the students and the faculty members seen through the activities shown in this yearbook will be a rich reward for the time and labor involved in producing this book. Sincerely yours, Hi Greetings From the President of the Student Body As President of the Student Body of Itawamba Junior College, I would like to express my appreciation for the hearty cooperation which I have received from both the Student Body and the Staff in making this school year — 1958-59 — the best year in the history of the College. Without your participation in every phase of the college program, we would have experienced failure. May the years ahead for each of you be even more successful. Thank you for electing me as president of your student body and then standing by me throughout the year. With the best wishes to each of you, Joe Maxcy SPRING Spring — with all its glory rare And its beauty beyond compare! Spring fills the hearts of every throng With laughter and a song. Mr. and Miss IJC JmOOKS PROIHO Miss Itawamha Junior College Faye Daniel, a sophomore, is from Houlka, Mississippi. She is a Business major and a member of FBLA. As a Freshman, Faye served as local Worship Chairman of the Methodist Student Move- ment and as representative from Itawamba Junior College on the State Wesley Foundation Council. As a Sophomore, Faye is serving as President of the local Wesley Foundation group. During her Sophomore year, Faye was selected by the student body as Homecoming Queen; she also served as college Editor-in- Chief of the MIRROR. Faye ' s hobbies are sewing, cooking, reading, and listening to music. Because of Faye ' s active interest ' {n college life and in students themselves, the student and faculty admire and respect her. To show their admir ation, the student body selected Faye to represent them and the college officially as Miss Itawamba Junior College. Mr. Itawamha Junior College Brooks Protho, a sophomore, was selected by the student body as the young man who best represents the spirit of the college. Brooks is a native of Greenwood Springs, Mississippi, where he grew up close to outdoor nature. Perhaps this environment fostered in him a love of sports, especially swimming and basketball, and a love of outdoor hobbies, fishing, boating, and hunting (quail). Brooks has served in the United States military program and is now a member of the National Guard, ranking as Specialist 2nd Class. Brooks ' wholesome outlook on life, his regard for real people, and his insistence on the be yourself policy have endeared him to both the faculty and student body. omecommg Queen ' AYE DANIEL K-i • .; r k lj)i( ! ■Jhhk iiUiKi Most Beautiful MARTHA RUTH MALONE B ramies UNDA McNUTT PATSY WYGUL w Beauties NANNETTE HOLCOMB BETTY DUGARD imi imi—iBiiiiiiiiiiiPHii . -.i .
