J? i . ■ ' ' TRADE TRAINING DEPARTMENT The Trades Training Department of the Itawamba Junior College and Agricultural High School consists of four intensive full-time training courses as follows: Rough Carpenter Advanced Building Trades Automotive Mechanic Body and Fender Repair These courses are offered to veterans and non-veterans for a total of 1,950 hours. Classes meet five days per week for five hours per day. Students are instructed in classroom and laboratory on live jobs. Students in Rough Carpenter are instructed in the following subjects: Tools and equipment, preliminary operations, foundations, floor framing, wall framing, partition framing, scaffolding, roof finish, outside finish, inside covering, inside finish, cabinet work, estimating, care and use of power machinery, and finishes or preservatives. The students enrolled in Automotive Mechanics are instructed in the following sub- jects: preventive maintenance, cooling system, engine, exhaust system, fuel and elec- trical system, accessories, steering gear, front and rear suspension, brakes, clutch, transmission, propellor shafts and universal joints, differential, body and fender, related shop practices, and related subjects, including arithmetic, language, writing, spelling, language uses, and reading. The subjects taught the students in Body and Fender Repair are: Use and care of equipment, fender repairing, oxy-acetylene welding, body repairing, preparation for painting, refinishing and related subjects including mathematics, English, job analysis, job cost, and bookkeeping.
