i e c ' ■ I am very proud of the progressthat has been made during the past school year. The excellent spirit of cooperation, teamwork and systematic planning by everyone has made this progress possible. Each student, teacher, and employee has made a definite contribution by loyal support. The school year of 1949-50 has been a most successful one. I feel that Itawamba Junior College and Agri- cultural High School is one of the fastest growing institutions in our state. Philip A. Sheffield, President

I wish to congratulate the annual staff and its sponsor for their excellent work in publish- ing the 1949-50 Mirror. The students of Itawamba Junior College and Agricultural High School have been very cooperative in the building of an institution of service to the people of this territory. The faculty of our school appreciates this coopera- tion to the greatest extent. We hope that the progress of this institution will keep step with the progress being made by its supporting counties, Itawamba, Lee, and Monroe. J-t 6 - -t ' -- ' As principal of the High School Division of Itawamba Junior College, I wish to thank all the faculty and students, both college and high school, for their loyalty and support. The American public school should be non-partisan, non-sectarian, efficient, democratic, for all of the children of all the people. The purpose of education is to aid the individual in achieving a meaningful life, by providing him the op- portunity to develop according to his ability. We are trying to do this through our program of study, social activities, athletics, clubs, assembly programs, band, music, testing, and placement program. y . iA- -
