Here are your future memories---caught as they erred across the present into the past. The GLADIATOR is only a small part of the life at Italy High, but it affords a record of some of the people and events that should be a pleasure to remember. Here it is---we give it to you with a sigh of relief, but with a hope that it is more than a yearbook---it is a milestone. FLETCHER With a veteran squad returning from 1949-50, the Italy Girls Basketball squad nailed down their first Ellis County Championship. The Gladiators defeated their arch rivals-Forreston, Avalon, and Milford. The Gladiators defeated Midway, McLennan County Champs, 25-21 in the first round of the District I meet. In the finals of the meet, the Gladiators lost a heart-break- ing 33-31 decision to Penelope, Hill County Champs, after having lead through- out most ofthe game. The Gladiators compiled a season record of 25 wins and 14 losses. The girls played such strong clubs as Seagoville, Aledo, West, Penelope, and Midw ay--as well as the clubs in Ellis County. The Gladiators were the winners of three tournaments--Bardwell, Milford, and Avalon. In two of these tourneys Forreston, a perennial power, was defeated in the finals by scores of 49-40 and 41-38. Six senior girls, three forwards, Jan Ward, Kay Hammonds, and Joyce Miles, and three guards, Tula Hamby, Betty Rhodes, and Joan Harris usually carried the heavy load of the games. Although we lose nine girls this year we are still looking forward to a winning team next year. BUTANE SYSTEM ROPER RANGES CHAMBERS RANGES HOT POINT APPLIANCES —BUTANE-SERVICE— THE INC. : a : | § C.
