Arthur Hearn, who for many years served faithfully as a member of the Board of Education. Through these years of loyal service his attitude was ever a source of inspiration and guidance to teachers and students of Italy Public School. We think of him as The Bridge Builder -H Good friend, in the path l've come, he said, There followeth after me today a youth whose feet must pass this way. ' This chasm, thats been as naught to me. To that fair-haired youth may a pitfall beg He, too, must cross in the twilight dim. Good friend, l'm building this bridge for him. -.WN K 4 w-as rims! .- u 4 pf..-W M, ..--- ----1.-...- 'Ywqfigv A Q ' ' Giilag, PF , gf ki, fy . -W .X A . ll f'm1,,,.w, A Q, W 5 -Amr-1 -W-W.: sn vf..f M: fn Vfgasfg-wQsfL,4pw5s5g,a,,f'xy-,QS 3-fm 'W 'M , -PM ' '!5!!4HiwT wymisffw' fwwmw 'ew 'f.',-frfwfa-gwu,+f,g,-sg: we TO THE STARS THROUGH BGLTS AND BARS A 'Aw fm. I , 'aff' K W Students, someday you will look back on your school and will appreci- ate her more than you now realize. She has contributed much to you by opening up new ideas and thoughts which would never have come to you except for her. May all of you elevate higher standards here before leaving us. Let me express the hope that your loyalty to Italy High, and your enthusiatic interest in the principals for which she stands, will not diminish with the passing years. Z You are living in the greatest age of mankind. It is an age that you can con- sider and be prepared to meetg one that requires a strong and sturdy character. With Polaniu's advice to young Laertes, may I also give to you? This above all, to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man. Then with Earnest Henley, may you be able to say: It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul. 'S I Irs.
