In the fall of 1950, the new school building was com- pleted at 3730 Winbomne Avenue. Grades one through eight re- mained on Erie Street, while grades nine through twelve moved to the new school. Istrouma Senior was equipped with modem facilities and could of- fer more courses. This enabled the students to have a better choice of the subjects they wanted. From 1946 to 1955, Mr. Brown was chairman of the Recreation and Parks Commission of East Baton Rouge Parish. During this time Mr. Brown played a very important role in promoting the passage of two bond issues pertaining to the con- struction of Memorial Stadium. 9
