ll Ti.. WARREN EASTON- In the first home game of the season, lstrouma was given a chance to prove themselves as a strong con- tender for the state crown. They had very little trouble in holding the Eagles of Warren Easton helpless throughout the game. lt was a fine team effort, and no one player could be singled out as the outstanding performer. LAKE CHARLES- Inexperienced, as they were, the Indians traveled to Lake Charles to begin their defense of the 1955 State Triple-A football championship. Late in the fourth quarter, it appeared that Lake Charles would sneak off with a 14-13 victory, but Don Smith, leading the offensive attack, made the final tally of the game with two seconds re- maining, thus, giving the Indians a 20-14 win. LITTLE ROCK- This game will long be re- membered as the saddest per- formance of our team this season. It must be pointed out, however, that Little Rock had never beaten Baton Rouge. Since we were the only team to beat them last year, they were really determined to go home victorious. NORBERT ROY, Guard Rodney White breaks off right tackle to score against Byrd. JOHN TEMPLET, Halfback SULPHUR- After losing two straight ball games, the Istrouma team started its long climb back to the top of the state ranks. Showing the desire and spirit which led to our second straight State AAA Championship, the fired-up Indians knocked at the pay- dirt door three times. How- ever, the stubborn Sulphur line weakened only enough to let Lonnie Harper sneak over for the lone TD. NEDERLAND- Recovering from their embar- rassing defeat at the hands of Little Rock, the Indians bounced back to play a fine ball game against the powerful Texans of Nederland. Had it not been for certain bad breaks, we might have come out on top. The final score was 7-6. DON SMITH, Fullback
