Judy Smedley is student director, Vicki Hansen, prompter, and Miss Francis Crelly, the director. There are 200 books in the Science Library. The first 100 came at the beginning of this school yearg the next 100 will arrive in February. At that time, the first 100 must be mailed back to the headquarters. Some main purposes -of the program are to give the librarian a years' experience with an up- to-date science collection: to de- velop the interest of high school students in reading such books: to stimulate the choice of a career in science and to give science and math teachers the opportunity for up-to-date read- ing. Included in the library are bio- graphies, anthologies, histories of science, general works, books on certain scientific subjects, and a few text books. One curious thing is that these are mostly adult books. They were not writ- ten especially for young people. Unlike the usual two-week check-out limit on the library's other books, the Science Librar- y's may be checked out for one week only, then renewed if de- sired.
