Stambaugh 6 The l-lematites produced one of the near upsets of the season when they were beaten 5 to U in the last two seconds of the game at Stambaugh lshpernings defense stopped Stambaugh both in the air and on the ground. The Hilltoppers gained minus 25 yards from scrimmage in the first halt. lshpeming drove deep into Stambaugh territory late in the tourth auarter but was unable to score. Lettermen on the line, which was considered one ot the finest in the Upper Peninsula, were: lohn Collins and lim Ombrello at the end posi- tions, Tom Engelhard, Ken Luostari, and lim Piirto at tackles, Don Denolre, lim Quayle, and Torn Thornton at center. lim Piirto was elected tire rnost valuable player by his teammates. Tom Engelhard was named tackle on the all U. P. second team. We are fortunate in the loss of only 5 fathers and l mother, Although there is a decrease in home ownership, from 891- to 7l the number of cars and camps owned remains about the same as last year, 937 have cars and 427 have camps. Although there is no value in comparing the number enrolled in kindergarten with the num- ber who are now graduating, we are interested in the comparison of enrollments over the years and the size of the graduating classes The enrollment of our class in September l939 was lOl while the peak was reached in l92O and l92l when 2l9 were enrolled in kinder garten Our araduat ng class contains 63 girls and 48 boys a total of lll as compared to l54 in l936 and 4l in l9lU Seventy one per cent of us are products solely of the lshpeming Public School System From the followina statistical information you may learn something of the type of work we have been enaaged in for four years Thirty are completing the Science Course twenty six the History and Social Science twenty three the Commercial sixteen the Manual Arts eleven the Home Economics and five are graduatina from the General Course l-low is the health program affected by statis tics?
