The spirit breaking play for Ishpeming was the 70 yard pass from Altobello to Mit- chell, which was called back because of off- side. ISHPEMING 27. NEGAUNEE 0 Striking fast on a fog-covered field, the Ishpeming Hematites trounced the Negaunee Miners 27-U, The line displayed the best block- ing and tackling seen this year. Charles Nault and Donald Swanson were the scoremakers for Ishpeming. ISHPEMING 13, CALUMET 14 Ishpeming absorbed its fourth defeat of the season at Calumet 14-13 Calumet scored its touchdowns in the first period lshpem ings first touchdown came on a spectacular 97 yard run by Carl Lemin. Ishpeming failed to convert the extra point. ISHPEMING 28, GLADSTONE 7 Key blocks ahead of the ball carriers, and great defensive line play, paved the way for a 28-7 win for the Ishpeming Hematite-s over the Gladstone Braves. Excellent ball carrying was done by Hartley and Donald Swanson, who gained l98 yards between them. ISHPEMING 0. STAMBAUGH 40 The Stambaugh Hilltoppers rolled over lshpeming's Hematites 40-U, with pass inter- ceptions, passes, and a punt return of 75 yards. The way the game began it appeared that Ish- peming would pull an upset, but the powerful Hilltoppers proved too much and went on to w1n. Course and 21 have completed the Htstory and Soctal Sctence Course Twenty per cent of the boys are graduattng from the Manual Arts Department and 17 have met the requtrements of the Commerclal Course The greatest change over the years may be seen 1n the decrease 1n the number betng graduated from the I-Iome Economlcs and Gen eral Courses Twenty IIVG years ago 14 of the glrls speclallzed ln Home Economtcs and th1s year only 8 ln the same perlod of t1me the graduates from the General Course dropped from 26 to 6 mdlcatmg that more students are concerned about prepartng themselves to enter only because much patchwork has been done We are proud of the 2 perfect sets f teeth owned by two semor boys We note that 5 years ago only 4 members had false teeth whtle 13 of our class have at least one false tooth Two boys and 8 glrls were excused from gym and 8 boys and 18 gtrls were excused from pool Twelve gtrls have passed e1ther the tumor or senlor Natronal Red Cross Llfe Savlng tests Much The familiar expression, How times have changed, is quite true in the field of recrea- tion. ln l9l0 the favorite games were post of- fice, carroms, and hearts, while this year, as in the past several years, our main diversions are movies, radio, and swimming. Forty-six of us have definite hobbies, the two enjoyed by most of us being photography and music. We do not spend all our spare time outside of school on recreation, for 75 of us belong to clubs and organizations, most of which are church groups. For the fourth consecutive year only 75 72 of the class attend church regularly, while in l947, the church attendance was 9174. Like all young people we yearn to travel, but up to the present time we have been unable to satisfy this urge, We are the first class in five years to have remained on this continent, Thirty-nine of us have visited Canada, and one has been to Mexico Eight of us have never left the Upper Peninsula and thirteen have not had an opportunity to venture into another state Thirty five of us have ridden in an air plane but unfortunately for the one who traveled the greatest distance the trip has em barrassing memories which are best not men tioned Traveling by train is becoming less frequent ln the class of l950 all but one had used thls means of transportation whereas in the class of l95l 10 have never ridden on a train We compare favorably with other classes in our work habits All but 15 have daily chores at home and 45 of us hold part time Jobs Our wages range from 25c an hour to S2 50 an hour The wage trend is interesting to note Our average hourly wage is 83C last year it was 56C and in l944 the average was 42c More than half of the class has clerked in a store This includes the group from the Com mercial Department which worked one day in the local stores Fourteen of us are enrolled in the Co operative Training Program which has been in operation in our school for 3 years We spend S209 75 a week on recreation which averages S2 30 each One boy spends S310 a week while some girls spend only l0c or 25c a week, the reason for which should be obvi- ous. However, all of our money isn't spent on recreation, because 45 of us have savings ac- counts, 28 have Christmas Clubs, and 88 carry life insurance. Turning to the more personal aspect of the group, we study our physical characteristics. We deviate from the general rule of blue eyes predominating, and this year blue shares hon- ors with brown eyes, while the remainder have hazel, green, and gray. More than 374 of us have brown hair, and two have red hair. Six- teen members are lucky enough to have been endowed with natural curly hair. We have several people who can claim the title of short- est member, which is five feet. Our tallest member, who is six feet four inches, also claims one of the two pairs of size l2 shoes our class owns. The two lightest members, who weigh 95 and 98 pounds, would have difficulty bal- ancing a teeter-totter with the 2l5 pounds of the heaviest member on the opposite end. The baby in age of this class is a boy who is now l7 years 4 months and 22 days Twelve years ago the first pair of glasses was purchased by our class and today 83 of us wear glasses while in l934 only 8 wore glasses Last year only one senior was left handed while this year there are 4 and one is ambidextrous In passing we note that in l933 the class ch wed an average of 2 sticks of gum a week We leave it to your imagination what the average is now When speaking of the future we find that 49 of us hope to further our education Twenty five per cent plan to attend college l7 a trade school and 7 will train to be come nurses The maiority of the class would like to become business workers engineers teachers clerks or telephone operators A yet several of us have not chosen a definite career ln conclusion we should like to remind you that while statistics are certainly facts yet facts are like curved mirrors it all depends on the way you look at them So the value of our statistics depends upon the interpretation you place upon them Donna LaFren1ere CLASS GIFTATORY PROPHECY Time The present INTRODUCTION Cust The flowers come on the staae ir the dark Violet ludith Anderson Violet How strange everything is' Where Daisy Patricia Polkki Lights slowly come on L1 y Lois Prin Orchid lt is getting briahter Novv we can I-lollyhock Beverly Ruona see' Rose Louise Vogeler Daisy This must be our destination the .
