BOYS' BASKETBALL The bays' basketball team of lrwin had a pretty good season. The records show that they won nine and lost eleven of their games. As the basketball team of the last school year was composed mainly of graduating seniors, the coach had to start this fall with a complete new team. Again this school year, five of the members on the first team were seniors. They were as follows: James McMahon, forward: Duane Smith, centerg James Swanson, centerg David Piper, forwardg Robert Olson, guard. The rest of the members were Bill Ahrenholtz, Allen Juhl, Ted Axland, Jack Buthman, John Paulsen, Richard McMahon, and Milton Barry. High pointers this year were James McMahon with 112 points, David Piper was next with 89 points, and the Allen Juhl with 74 points. At the County Tournament, the team played Portsmouth the first round. They defeated them and went on to play Westphalia, where they came out on top.
