CLASS PROPHECY OF THE CLASS OF '48 It is now 1958, ten years since the class of '48 threw their books aside and ventured out into the world. A few days back, while recalling the days in I. H. S., I wondered what the remainder of the dear old class were doing to keep what the remainder of the dear old class were doing to keep themselves Qaheml busy. I ventured into my study and now as I look into the new Super Powered Telescopic Telescope I see .Tim Swanson is piloting planes for United Airlines. He became interested in this occupation while driving his old Sl to' school back in those days spent in I. .I-I. S. Quite by coincidence his wife is the stewardess on his plane. Two o'f the members of the class are running a gambling joint in Loonyville. Kentucky. The name of it is Wiesenlarson Mentecarlo . Neither Lyla nor Dixie has accepted marriage. lCan you feature that?j Duane Smith has proved very successful in these ten years. He is now a well known scientist and is doing research work on sweet tomatoes, expecially the 4 clinging vine type. I have trouble finding Mary, as she quite suddenly decided that she would like to be in the movies and changed her name to LullaBelle Fitz. I find her in her luxurious home in Beverly Hills reading her proposals. fShe receives them by mail., Next I see something glittering in the sky. As I draw nearer I discover it is none other than Marcille Ahrenholtz doing her breath-taking act on the highwire in her beautiful silver tights. She has done very well with Ringling Brothers' Circus. I catch David Piper in the bathtub. He reaches for one of Sally Rand's fans as he steps out of the tub to answer the telephone. David has always admired Miss Rand and finally made the grade as her dancing partner. David is hoping to work himself up to work with Betty Grable. JAMES V. MC MAI-ION Superintendent This is the sign I see hanging on the office door of the Dipso-Maniac Insane Asylum. I urge anyone who is in need of help along this line to please call on our old classmate. ' Verlee is leading a very busy life with a doctor for a husband and three small children to care for. She had formerly planned to take nursing as a career, but evidently her mind was changed. Ah yes, police cars are now rushing to a radio station in New York, where a crooner, Charles Wooster, is about to be trampled on by a crowd of teen-age girls. He has made the song Meet Me Tonight, Darling popular.

Class Prophecy lContinuedJ What is this? No, it couldn't be! Oh, but it is! It is Bob Olson, and it seems as though he has changed his ways of living since '48. He is now a minister. INow do you see what I mean by his change 'Pj He is very well-pleased with his newly- found profession. I find that Charlotte Young and her husband have erected a library a few blocks from Cornpatch College, in Irwin. They have been considering giving the library a new manager and moving to a farm near Manilla. They prefer country to city life for the health of their five charming children. From a building in New York I hear a familiar voice yelling Stop the press . As I approach the building I find it is Merlin Flug. He is the editor of the New York Times. What was that? Gunfire? Why, it is Carmen Blackwell and her husband chasing a dangerous criminal. Yes, Carmen is working with her husband as a girl detective. As yet, they have not discovered the true identity of the Green Hornet. This seems to be all there were in the class. Oh yes, by the way, I am none other than Dorothy J'uhl, and I am married now and kept quite busy raising my family and helping my husband, who is proprietor of the Holloway Hybrid Seed Corn Company in good ol' Eaglesville, Missouri.
